Damaged Eccentric Shaft?? Pics...

I have had my engine apart for a few months and it looks like my eccentric shaft is starting to get oxidation on it. Will this damage the shaft? Also should I remove it before assembly & how to remove it/keep it off?

take some wd-40 and spray down the lobes and rub with a rag very good and it should stop most of that and most of it should come off and then keep a light mist of wd-40 on it every now and then to keep it from coming back

you are sooo screwed!! Buy new ones!! JUST KIDDING!!

Yes you should clean them off. A good machine shop should be able to polish it.

93BlackFD had his shaft polished( haha!! ) by a good shop. turned out sweet!! He posted before and after shots. Looked amazing. Try PM'ing him and asking, or maybe he will see this

I have a spare E-shaft that has been in my house for about two years. No oxidation on it. Where did you leave yours, out in the damp garage?

I'd get it polished. Any engine rebuilding shop will know what to do with it.

Thanks for the info guys. I will probably take it to a shop and have it polished. At least pull it out of the garage for now.

I didn't mic the shaft yet, I am pretty sure its with in spec though. My Mana motor only lasted 12k. That link is broken, do you have another?
