Cusco rollbar?

I was flipping through an old turbo magazine the other day, and was reading the article on SP Engineering's orange FD. They said the roll cage in the car was from Cusco. I really like the design of the cage. The thing is, I can't find any info on the cage. At least not in english. Canman and the rx7store don't have any listings. I went to Cusco's site, but it's all in Japanese and Yen. Can someone give me an idea how much it would cost? Thanks.

I heard that the Cusco cage doesn't fit right on U.S. Models because something to do with clearance for the turn signal lever. But there is some kind of mod you can make to get it to work. It shouldn't be a big hassle though I would think.

Fitting to sunroof mod....

Just a guess... however, the electric sun roofs i have installed have all been "cassette units" mounted to the underside of roof. Best guess is mearly cut off mounting legs and reweld the mountinh pads the same distance that the sun roof hangs down from bottom of roof assy..... Carter

ok im back, good news is cusco roll cage fits in touring model....test fitted from personal experience. bad news is glove box rubs against roll bar but can still be opend. the sun visors have to be left in a up or down positon and yes it does not clear the turn signal lever. but you can modify the lever or do what im going to do, use a pipe bender to move the pipe closer to the dashboard and walla. i will post picks in about 2 weeks or so. i need to do this right since i know some of you will want really detaild pictures. later. p.s. the cage is steel so i believe im legal now.

damn you guys are not gonna like this but it worked for me. the 4pt cusco should fit no problem. but to get the 6pt in you will need to bend the bars so that they clear the glove and the blink assembly. i used a torch and bent the lower half passenger side to match driver side and bent the driver side to match the lower passenger side. basically i bent them to us spec. any muffler shop can do this. i recommend installing the back section first and then bend the front 2 bars accordingly. i can still open the glove box without hitting the bar now and the driver side bar is now about a inch and a half away from the blinker assm. you will not be able to use the sun visors and yes the front bar right behind the front windshield clears the light and sunroof buttons. well it was worth the trouble for me but is it worth it to you. i took pictures of the test fit and ill try to post them. later people.

Yeah you dont want the right hand drive rollcage. You will never get in the car. The left hand side didnt make room for us, since the steering wheel....

So since Im tired... Basically if you have any legs you wont be able to get in your car...

Put your upper body in the car first while leaning on the center console with your hand. Then as you rotate your body down to the seat bring your legs in by stepping over the side bar.
Getting out: Place your hand on door sill and rotate your upper body out facing rear of car with legs following.

Isn't safety fun?

Next weeks installment:
Wearing three layer nomex during the summer...

with the roll cage the, you lose about only 5 to 10% on how far the seats go back, there are no side bars so you can easily get in and out of the car.

abflug-t78 made that post nearly 3 years ago, and was last online on 12-17-03 at 09:34 PM Pacific Time. You might want to try searching through all of his posts to see whether he posted pictures.
