need advice 93 FD auto trans

I have a 93 FD with auto trans. I will be doing some mods now that the reliability mods have been completed. I will be adding a hks downpipe, 3 inch catback exhaust, large smic, Adam C air box mod, and a efini y pipe, My question is what ECU can I get to work with the auto trans and not loose the auto trans functions. I've searched and can't find any real answers. I know the peter farrell purple box will work but I don't want any old technology. Tri point recommended that I add an extra injector to assist with fuel so I don't run lean but the injector and controller plus tuning will run over 1,000.00 . for that kind of money I think I can get a tuneable ECU. I would like some good advice from the experts before I settle on this extra injector solution.
Thanks
Jeff

you could go with other engine management systems other than the peter farrel system if you get a tranny control unit. check out link.

I cannot believe that those gold plated pinheads at Tripoint are still recommending the 5th injector mod, which, take it from me, sucks ***. Don't do it.

I thought there was a way you can wire up the Power FC to still keep the auto trany functions.

Hey fcfdfan what problems did you have with the 5th injector mod ? and have you had any work done at rotary power in gardina. Jeff seems like a nice guy and said he has got a lot of business from former tripoint customers.

Ive searched and can't find anyone who has been able to make the pfc work in the auto's and retain the hold feature.

wrong, PFC plus PCS TCU as Chuck mentioned previously. downside=$$$ and requires some programming on your part, but functions the same right down to being selectable from the gear selector.

I don't believe you searched, or you would have the answers to your questions already. It might involve looking past the first page of posts such as yours.

as far as old technology-my 94 is now 12 years old! good luck turning your sow's ear into a silk purse.

oh yeah and just to recap the content of those searches you didn't do, you can wire any of the standalones in parallel to funtion with the auto TCU. Use the standalone to control the ignition and fuel and leave stock ecu and the connections to the TCU. Basically you are making it a "piggyback". Also you might check into the emanage, though I don't know too much about it, but it is a "newer" technology piggyback.

Hey Weaklink I did search. I was looking for an answer on how to get the PFC to work without adding the extra TCU unit or running it piggyback. but i dont think anyone has been able to do it. is it just a software issue with the PFC ? . if anyone can point me to a thread that can make it work let me know. Ive called several rotary shops and they don't know how to get it to work without adding all the extra parts and they don't want to mess with it.
thanks
Jeff

hey jeff sorry your search didn't go so well, but it has been covered here many many times. the thing is that there are 2 ecus in your car. one for the tranny and one for the engine. the stock tranny ecu looks for signals from the engine ecu. if it does not receive this input it assumes there is a malfunction. the hold light begins to flash and the hold function is not available. NO STANDALONE SUPPORTS THESE SIGNALS. Therefore your options, sir, are:

1. Piggyback
2. Replace the stock TCU

I forgot one option. It may be possible for Pettit racing to "reprogram" the boost, air and fuel maps on your stock ECU. www.pettitracing.com

Hey Weaklink. Thanks for the info. I called Jeff at Pettit and they no longer do anything with the auto trans ECU's. He said some worked, and some did not. Jeff said the peter Farrell EFI system would be the best bet just don't use the #3 switch position without race fuel. I will look into Gforce and see what they say.
