OH Curious Bridge Port Questions

Hey I have 2 questions that I have been trying to get an answer for.
1) Is it ideal to run a Bridge ported engine on the street?
2) Do you have have to premix or can you strictly run on 93+ octane pump gas?
any information would help thanks.

1. nope. the idle is a pita. and it doesnt handle low rpms very well. ex. there is no such thing as cruising 10-15mph. you will buck. i generally drive around 3-4k to keep the motor happy, but i still need a better tune.

2. i dont think its any different then other ports in the aspect of premix. i took my omp out so i premix all the time and use only 93 from shell/sunoco...

I dont think a bridgeport is ideal for a street engine.
It makes its power too high in the rpm range - which means you need to drive around at high rpm using heaps of gas in order to take advantage of it.
Bridgeport or not, i dont think it makes any difference as to if you should pre mix or not.

I think you should be premixing when you have modified your car or your motor is balanced for a higher RPM range. Actually, it helps to premix when you are stock so yea, premix.

1. probably not, although it depends. the big penalty is noise, the engine will be picker about mufflers, and make more noise from the intake. the other penalty depends on the size/shape of the port, but it'll be pickier about the tune, it needs to be more precise, and it won't like low rpm part throttle as much.

and in a turbo car why bother, just run more boost.

j9fd3s would you happen to have a sample of what the tune settings should be?

I am already running a bridgeport on my FD and I have no problem with the idle or noise. wanted to hear other people opinions, and thoughts. Thanks alot for the info and advice. I was just a little confused on the concept of premixing.

My take is something else is going to catastrophically fail before it succumbs to wear. That will likely involve replacing a housing anyway and while I'm in there might as well do the other one for safe measure...
