Cracked PPF

While installing my AI kit, I noticed a small crack (about 2 1/2") on top of the PPF about 3 or 4" in front of and running perpendicular to the differential. When I replace my clutch and tranny, I'll inspect the entire thing but would welding and reinforcing just the cracked area(s) be fine or should I source a new one?

Several people have had success in welding and strengthening the stock PPF. You might bug the OP of this thread to see if he (or she) still has the pictures:

After reading the thread, it seems a few disagreed on the way the reinforcement was done.

I'm suggesting you do 'exactly' as that person did, but you can see what he did and then figure out what you want to do with your PPF. As I say to most people, don't blindly follow someone. Study what they did and then make an informed decision on what you want to do.

I reinforced mine and made a tranny brace and solid differential mounts. It puts less stress on the ppf and makes for a more solid connection, better launching and shifting.

You "are" suggesting or "are not" suggesting?

Pick up a used uncracked PPF and install our Diff brace to prevent it from happening again.

While I did miss a word in there ("not"), I think you understand the meaning. Don't blindly follow people on this forum. Research and then make your own informed decision as to what needs or should be done to your car.

I never do. I always view any idea or mod as a basis and figure a way to improve or do it better.

Please explain how the brace would prevent cracking from happening again? Also, what about added stress to the nose of the differential case?
