Hey all, I think I spelled couplers right. Anyhow, where can I get GOOD replacement couplers for the turbo system. I need to replace the one right off the turbo, and the one going to the intercooler, the rubber ones aren't holding up. Any info would be great, thanks.

 

Get an efinit Y-Pipe.

 

disregard that "t" hehe ! You can also go with an HKS Hard pipe kit. It replaces all of the couplers with two metal pipes and the silicon couplers.

 

Hmmm do you mean the stock rubber ones. In anycase they are gonna charge you an arm and a leg if you buy from the mazda dealers or after market, in anycase, my brother had the same problem as you. We researched a lot of places and the average was about 50 bucks or so for each coupler. He was kinda pissed that it would cost 150 bucks for a peice of rubber from the dealer or 150+ dollars for an after market dealer so he decided to hold off on it. We always go to homedepot/hardware stores just to hang around and we found rubber couplers for drains there. They cost only a buck and actually fit. We bought them (it only cost a buck, it was not that much to scarifice) and put them on and they have been working perfectly for about 8 months to a year now and he is boosting 10-12 psi all the time. They have not popped off once yet and if they ever go, 1 dollar for a year+ worth of boosting is worth it! The one on the turbo is still good too considering the amount of heat generated by the turbos and the all still look new and Im pretty sure they are gonna last for another year, possibly 2.


It is true that the after market type is a little more colorful so buy it if you have the money but if your straped for cash, the rubber couplers for drains have been comfirmed to work for at least a year and cost a hell of a lot cheaper!!!

 

buy a foot of 2 3/4" silicone hose from www.bakerprecision.com ..... you can also try to get a hold of either thermaflex couplers or samco couplers....samco couplers are the ones that come with aftermarket ic kits, very nice and thick. thermaflex ones are also made for turbo applications. i got some from a hose and fitting store in LA that sold tons and tons of NOS stuff. you might try calling around for this stuff. ask for either thermaflex or purosil i think it was called. good luck.

 

Yep, get the good stuff from Baker Precision...I did, it is great!

 

I just went up to RP (www.rx7.com) and picked up a Turbonetics coupler for $30.

The ones at Home Depot should work if you can find 2 3/4 inch, just stay under 14psi. I've blown huge holes in a couple of the 2.5" ones from Home Depot on my old Civic but I was running about 18psi.

i went to Baker precision today.

wow... they were BUSY preparing for setting up their booth at the LA autoshow (starts jan 5th, 2002).

anyway, i bought two blue colored reducer couplers (didnt know which one works better ) and one foot (more like 1.5 feet) of a blue colored coupler (2" 3/4). with 6 constant torgue clamps, the total cost was $80.

oh, they will be selling some momo racing seats and steering wheels at a discounted price during the autoshow. (possibly sparco stuff too)
