Question Coolant temps?

i was driving my car without a thermalstat and my water temps varied from 97-101celcius.

so i was told that its a bad idea so i installed a oem thermalstat... and now my car warms up faster.....but my water temps will go from 91 to 101 celcius and it goes from 91 101 every 6 mins then wen it gets to 101 it will creep back down to 91 and then back to 101 and back to 91 and so on this happened 6 time on my way to work today its a half hr ride....it does it on the highway and city driving...

im just worried that it keeps going from 91 to 101 and then wen it gets to 101 it goes back to 91 celcius and it just keeps doing this....

Sounds like your fans are coming on at 101C (FC thermoswitch?) and then cooling it to 91C. You are probably driving in traffic with not much speed or airflow, so the fans are needed to keep the temperature down.

Where are you measuring the coolant temperature? The restriction caused by the thermostat may be causing a slight delay in cooled coolant getting to the sensor, or the engine internal bypass being blocked when the thermostat is open (as it should be) is causing that. Remember that having no thermostat speeds up the coolant flow and would tend to reduce the peak and increase the minimum temperatures.

I think these temps are fine. Is this in city driving?

Those temps are fine. If you start seeing temps around 115C, then start to worry.

I saw a random fluctuation of temps like that recently. Turned out one of my fans stopped working. I have no idea why it would fluctuate in that range when I was driving steady on the highway but it did. As soon as I replaced the fan motor, the temp fluctuation stopped.

mate mine goes up to 106 when i sit in traffic, but will be around 90 when driving, try turning your parker lights, which allows the fans to come on 5 degrees earlier, this helped alot for me.
