Exclamation Coolant smell

I know there are post on here already but I want to get some specific help!

This winter I was smelling coolant when i would run the FD. During start up there wouldn't be anything, but after it idled for a little bit, I could not only smell it, but I could see the haze of smoke coming from the enging bay. I wasn't loosing a whole lot of coolant because it was always full but I was definetly leaking coolant onto a hot surface. I did a visual inspection of most of the hoses that I could see and still could find anthing. I hoisted it up on the hydraulic jack and had it running and I still could not see any leaks. Can someone please give me some sort of direction as to what to do or a possible diagram of all the coolant lines. Any help would be great and thank you very much.

Usually, the turbo coolant lines are the ones that fail most often. That will usually cause some smoke as that whole area gets very hot very quickly.

Also, look at where the turbo coolant lines enter and exit the turbos. I had a lot of trouble finding a leak there. What finally solved it was noticing the mineral deposits where the coolant lines enter the turbos. There was a white power. Fortunately, I had been using tap water in my coolant system (I know, I know) otherwise I may not have found it. After replacing the crush washers and thoroughly cleaning both surfaces there it doen't leak anymore.

Without some sort of clue like this it is hard to see the leak since the coolant evaporates very quickly once it hits the turbos.

My turbo coolant hose exploded on me. The thing was blown wide open. Took me a little while to figure out that it was it... kept pouring water in teh filler cap and seeing water come out from behind the alternator ( or was it the ac comp? ) That hose is right next to the turbo and gets alot of heat. I think it was about 11 bucks from mazdatrix
