coolant smell

I recently replaced a leaking heater hose in my fd. I caught it before the car overheated and it was only down about 1/8th gallon of coolant. While changing the hose and re filling the system some coolant was spilled in a couple spots in the engine bay. Ive driven the car a couple of times maybe a total of 20 miles or so but I am still smelling a coolant smell after I drive it several hours after the hose replacment. How long should it take to burn off that spilled fluid? Ive spilled a little coolant on many cars ive owned and the smell usually goes away after the first few minutes of driving, whats the deal here? I have smelled the exhaust and I get no sweet smell from there, and i have yet to see any smoke at all. No more visable leaks, and no drips under the car. The smell is strongest about the middle of the car near the doors, even under the hood doesnt smell and the passenger compartment does not smell.

yep, took a long while for the coolant smell to disappear from my car as well after I changed a water hose.

It's gone now after about a few months.
