Freeze plug? on the rear housing?? If its inside the bell housing this is very likely

Isn't it winter down there on the other side of the world?

If its in the bell housing

1. Random hole in the housing, cracked Iron??? not likely

2. Freeze plug.

3. Tension bolts. Maybe one of the seals around the washer gave out.

finally got round to pulling motor (lost licence week after leak so in no rush) was freeze plug in rear plate which was supposed to be new when motor was built >15k but cannot be as corroded as f*#k quick question tho can i just put new plugs in if old one came out from corrsion? and what can you do to stop them ever coming out (stupid place to have them but i guess not really anywhere else to have them) not cold enough down here to need them?

If the hole has corroded very much at all, you'll not simply be able to put in a new freeze plug. You can, however, buy these plugs that are made for this condition, they have an expanding function that seals a rubber lip around the hole. Any parts store has them.
