Clear Lines
Clear Lines
Just in the process of replacing all the hoses in my FD and was wondering if its a good idea to replace the clear plastic looking lines that travel along the front of the engine from bottom to top, if so what should i replace them with, they look verry hard and fragile.

Those are the lines for the oil injection. Don't replacement them unless you need to.. If you *need* to, then look at these:

i will thnx, anything else while im in there ?
only had to change 3 check valves at £23 each and all the vacume lines to press.
Btw only went in to polish the uim, then thought id better change some hoses then check the soloniods then check valves so thought id better take out the rats nest then keept it going, just let me know what i should check/replace while im there.

Well as long as your already there, follow Rob's hose replacement found HERE and Dave's site with lots of pics. If you remove the Air Control Valve to get the 2 hoses (don't know if you even have one), pay attention to the additional advice on Dave's page for the issues with the ACV disk. Don't throw the hoses out with the pills, you need them. Good Luck

Actually, the OMP lines are a common failure point.
Replacement isn't very expensive, and if they are brown and brittle it's a good thing to do. Many engine rebuilders replace them whenever rebuilding an engine. IMO it's a good idea.

When I was manning the showroom at Gotham I recommended replacement for every customer who was still using their original 10+ year old oil metering lines. I have them on both my FD and my vert. One less failure point to worry about
