Tool for changing oil on lowered 7's

Don't know if anyone posted this before but been using this for years at the job and, I have one for my car. All you need to do is stick the tube down the dipstick tube and suck the oil out. Change your filter, add oil and you're on your way! This thing will obviously suck the oil better if it's warmed up. It holds about 7 quarts of oil. I got this from one of the tool guys that come to the shop. If you don't have access to one, you can get it from The Eastwood Company, www.eastwood.com

...and does it work well for you? I have a similar pump and it only gets about 1 qt of oil out of my FD. I can't get the tube to go all the way to the bottom of the oil pan....it's blocked from getting through. It works better on my other car, which is a V8, but even on that car the way the oil pan is designed there's a little bit left in a depression by the drain plug that forces me to remove the plug to empty it out.

If you've got a trick for getting the tube to the lowest point of the oil pan on your RX-7 I'd be happy to hear it.

Did yours come with a small tube? If not, you need that one to go all the way down into the oil pan.

The problem with those is they won't get all the metal shavings or other contaminants that would settle at the bottom of the pan.

Small enough to fit easily inside the dipstick tube. It goes down that tube and then hits an obstruction no amount of manipulation can seem to get it around.
I've never had the oil pan off the car, but the service manual shows an anti slosh type plate above the oil pickup. It appears this is what the suction tube is hitting.
That's why I'm surprised you say your device works so well.

"Get a jack and a wrench", said the old fogey.

That thing is a gem if you put too much oil in. Otherwise its a hack job. IMHO of course.

You won't get all the shavings by draining from the oil plug eigher! I do agree that the best way is to drain from the plug and, I would recommend a magnetic plug to solve the shaving problem. It's just a pain getting your lowered car up far enough to get under there without scraping up your front bumper or sideskirts.

Power Bleeder... pumps brake fluid into the reservoir so you can bleed off the air at the bleeder screws.

The power bleeder and the fin rake are the two best tools mentioned yet. I think im gonna have to get one of those oil pumps though, sounds pretty nice to not have to go through the ordeal of jacking the car...Good find.
