Well, I was a V-8 chevy guy before my wife got the RX-7. I think you should read the reliability mods here: http://www.fd3s.net/table_of_contents.html . Also, be ready for down time, when parts break it takes time to get them. Oh yea, goodluck on your purchase.

I would recommend offering $5500 for the car. Use the other $500 for typing lessons, a dictionary, and a spell-check program.

Seriously though if you can get this car for 6k do it provided the motor and turbos are in good shape.

The body work can't be that expensive to align that passenger side door unless the entire thing is bent

Like your girlfriends, get her tested before you take her home.

First off, you need to ask yourself if you can afford the car. Plan to spend about $1k / year in maintenance, besides the cost of fuel or insurance. This is a 10-year-old sportscar, and it has probably seen its fair share of abuse.

Has it got a salvage title? Why is the seller willing to take $6k for a car that the Kelley Blue book says is worth $16k in good condition? Does the Carfax check out? Does the vehicle pass a smog test? In my experience, if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

If you can afford to own it, and it's got a straight frame and a clean title, then the car is worth $6k. However, be prepared to drop $5k on repairs, because there are probably problems that the seller hasn't acknowledged that are forcing him to sell for $10k below blue book value.

If you get it, make sure to get the reliability stuff posted in the previous thread done.
