Exactly- I have ceramic coating on my stock twins, but it cost $$$$$$$$$$ to have Pettit do it.

Aerodyne Dallas makes a "Type IV" ceramic ball-bearing Aerocharger turbo (for the Miata) but Aerodyne is closed at the moment due to a patent dispute.

ceramic

Rotorbrain- Pettit turbos spool faster, but that has nothing to do with the ceramic. They radius the internal flow passages to make the path more streamlined. Ceramic is to resist the effect of heat to reduce heat cracks from forming.

These are all different things:

- ceramic coating of exhaust manifold and/or turbine housings
- ceramic turbine wheel (a la Buick GNX)
- ceramic ball bearings (presumably ball bearings with ceramic ***** and/or races instead of steel)
- ceramic coffee mug

Yeah, but is that a factory or aftermarket ceramic mug? I have a friend that knows a guy, whose sister's 3rd cousin, had his plastic McDonald's coffee mug ceramic coated. Keeps coffee hot for 10 or 12 days! Much longer than a factory ceramic mug, and lighter too!!

The STOCK 99+ Mazda Twins on the 280hp 13bREW's have an ABRAIDABLE CERAMIC coating to improve effeciency, the Base/Auto models w/260hp dont get the ceramic coating.

turbonetics offers garret turbos upgraded with 1 rolling element bearing that also takes thrust (metal races and ceramic *****), and one regular sleeve bearing. doubt it's avail for FD.

the garrett gt turbos use all metal ball bearings, both ends.

I recall nissan had a ceramic turbine wheel, not sure. unusual oem option.
