one mine one button is the rear demister and one turns on teh front foglights. the other ones are just covered up.

on the jap specs that console ends where the front seat is on mine, although i have seen pics of ones that extend to the rear, and people have put drink holders in it. Maybe it extends on the touring models or models with no rear seats (mine has rear seats)

the other big leather you see is a hand rest/coin holder. I think US ones had a sliding cover, like in your pic.

It's actually an ashtray, or a coin holder, whatever you want to call it.

The "rear demister" is the rear defogger (nomenclature, I know), the foglight switch as you mentioned, and the other one is an idiot light.

Looks like this guy has two rear defroster switches, so he's probably using a duplicate switch for another function. The buttons are interchangeable and some people have changed their positions (myself included), but to the best of my memory, they are (left to right) fog lights (blank on R1/R2/base), normally blank on U.S. cars*, and the rear defroster.

The lights to the right of the ashtray are the security/alarm light (front) and catalytic converter overheating warning light (rear).

*on European/Canadian cars it was the headlight washer button, if I'm not mistaken.

hey sorry i have no pics of the other centre console. If you do a search for cup holders there should be pics of it. I saw a pic of what looked like a longer centre console becuase someone had drilled a hole in it and theres no way i could drill a hole in my centre console.

On North American cars the console extends to the rear bins. If you remove the plastic console you will find the driveshaft hump about 2-3" under it all the way (I found that a nice place to hide electronics). For heavy guys like me, a piece of "ethafoam" under the console just aft of the ashtray braces the plastic against the driveshaft hump so I don't keep cracking the plastic when I lean on it.
