That's not such a bad thing, you'd probably only need one shock to hold the entire hatch up. Or better yet don't even use any. More weight savings.

If you're being serious, yea you're right. You can prob just use those sparco spring poppers ppl sometimes use on hoods, just so the hatch pops up a bit for you to stick your fingers underneath and open. And given the fact that it's an FD, you prob won't be putting anything big enough to necessitate carrying it w/ both arms into the trunk anyways

Na...no reason. I just couldn't tell if you were being serious or a sarcastic smart-*** lol. It's online, so it's hard to tell someone's tone...plus I don't know you. Example: some ppl on this forum are simply against ANYTHING that's not stock lol. So that woulda been the perfect wisecrack from one of 'em

1FooknTiteFD, obviously Pettit makes one. I think C-West and Feed made 'em too, but they're unbelievably expensive. I dunno who makes the one Jason/RX7Store sells, and I dunno if Carbon Creations makes a hatch, too.

btw mines fit awsome, i used the stock glass, and all the stock interior plastics went on as well, no rattles but i still need a weaker set of hatch shocks since the hatch is alot lighter

Ditto... any ideas on how to fasten a large spoiler to the trunk itself?

As for mounting a wing, I've only got a 99 spec so it shouldn't be much of a problem.
Are you planning on mounting on a Batman style wing?

Well if you talking just the difference between the stock glass (20 lbs.) and the FAL (10 lbs.) window it's 10 pounds. The stock hatch on the other hand weighs in at about 55 pounds without the glass. Somebody said the VIS hatch weighs around 8 pounds. So with both the hatch and the glass it's around 57 pounds lighter.

Was that to me? Cuz I already have a CF GT spoiler, but the stands for the spoiler are metal, which makes it kinda heavy (wasn't willing to pay what...another $1500 for a brand name GT spoiler that's 100% CF ie, even the stands lol). I think I'll need both hatch struts, simply cuz they're not strong enough to hold up my wing now as it is. I know Crispy showed me how his RacingBeat spoiler (which is very similar to the 99spec) was too heavy for the stock struts too. So my point is...the weight of the heavy aftermarket spoilers minus the weight lost from the CF hatch prob = something very close to the ideal weight the stock strust can support.

Oh and what's the deal w/ a "Batman" style wing? Is that in reference to the superhero, or Batman on the forum? lol. Cuz I don't think I've seen either

This is the same spoiler I'm rocking...

I wonder if it qualifies for the biggest wing on an FD?

yes, Batman's spoiler is really that big at least you don't see the other side of the wing where it had a political sticker.
