California owners I failed smog due to EGR. Help
Have any of you failed smog for egr valve not bogging or turning off your car? What is the normal reaction for the egr test? Please don't comment "sucks you live in Cali" or "thank God I don't have to go threw that." I'm looking for useful info. Thanks
My fd isn't reacting at all so it failed. Is it most likely stuck or this is normal?

the FD will not do anything noticeable at idle when the EGR valve is activated. the EGR valve is teeny, and its not supposed to work at idle in the first place.
i could swear there is a bulletin about this, but you just need to go to a different smog shop. the CEL will turn on if the EGR isn't working, its in their book

i live in CA, san diego. they did visual regarding the EGR, and all other equipment. Couldn't find the charcoal cannister and i was too noob to point him in the right direction. passed me anyway after claiming that i 'must have relocated it', lol.
(was in the stock location, just didnt know where it was back then)
point is, try another shop.

i tried to smog a 99 FD once, and they spent something like 45 minutes looking for the EGR valve, and told they couldn't smog the car because they couldn't find it, which is fine. it was in my toolbox after all...
i took it to a different shop, and the car sails through, it runs so clean its funny.

the FC is a little like that, it uses a 3.5mm line a the tank vent and a 6mm line to the engine, and i guess every single other car in the universe is the other way, so they always want to put the pliers on the wrong hose
