Where to source thermostat neck flange?

Does anyone know of a thermostat neck flange that's available? I'm trying to build a straight pipe w a fill cap but I can only find these with built in ast tanks. Do the s5 aluminum pipes fit the fd?

Thanks!

I'm trying to figure out exactly what you're asking for... (but then again, I just had a bunch of caffiene, so I may be running on 'tard mode )

Are you looking for an oem filler neck, or an aftermarket one? If you're looking for OEM I could sell you my old one, as I'm running a modified filler neck/ast combo..

The s5 filler necks do fit the FD, they are used by people who want to delete the AST.

Lol, I'm talking about the entire piece. Exactly like your modified ast piece minus the ast! I guess you could call it the thermostat housing. I currently have the oem fd piece with the fc filler neck. I'm looking for a housing flange to make my own housing.

The fd housing appears too tall to clear the hood on the 20b when moved forward. Thinking a straight pipe with a filler neck welded on would be great.

Ah! I gotcha. I'd have to ask Brian where he got the mounting flange he used for mine.

Mine for comparison sake: Name: 2013-03-06_18-38-39_395_zpsfa9fcfc5.jpg

And the flange you want (with a good reason NOT to use cheap AN fittings ):

Apparently Brian just fabricated mine out of some metal stock, so I can't give you a quick and easy source

Maybe just give your fabricator the stock neck to take measurements from and he/she can fab you one to match the stock dimensions.

Well I appreciate the help. If the S5 3 bolt neck is the same, then I could chop off the flange from an aluminum version neck. Just need to confirm the bolt pattern.

I don't believe there's a pre-made flange anywhere. The S5 neck stock is plastic, I know aluminum ones are sold but I think they're aftermarket. I'm not sure where they are available from or how much they run.

Also, the '86-88 S4 RX-7 ran an aluminum water neck but it's a 2-bolt flange, not even close.

99.00 seem a bit over priced IMO.
You could make one for maybe 30.00

Thanks Dale,

Do you know if the 3 bolt pattern of the S5 flange is the same as the FD? If so I'm going to purcahse an aluminum S5 and have welded a radiator filler cap.

Fendamonky (or anyone else who knows) is there a certain height to weld the AST to the neck? Like should there be 2" above the neck so the neck doesn't suck in air? I just don't want to get mine too high or low..

We have them being laser cut now, be available in a week or two.

Just like the one in this picture 1/2" aluminum, 1.5" ID

We have a 1.75" ID in stock but you would then need to weld on a reducer down to 1.5" if you are planning on using the factory diameter hoses/radiator.

That was a mistake, since the S5 is not remotely the same bolt pattern

That looks awesome... Why didnt they do this from the factory? The surge tank setup is just cluttered!
