Buying a AST question
Buying a AST question
Hey Guys, I was thinking of purchasing a ast off of ebay. It does say that it requires a lower rad hose adaptor but I believe that is for the cars that dont have ast to begin with. Can someone clarify this for me and as well can you tell me if this AST is any good? Here is the link below. Thanks in advance!

I wouldnt buy that. Not worth it----if you cause a problem in the cooling system, you're looking at a cooked engine and a high repair bill. Either purchase one of the ASTs designed specifically for the FD (that has 3 nipples, two on the sides and one on the bottom), or delete it all together with the FC filler cap.

What's wrong with the ebay one? The only difference is that it's nipple is at the top not at the bottom.
Would that make that huge of a difference? Isn't it the same functionality as replacing it with the smaller volume FC cap? (Ie the Ebay one would have to be filled all the time for it to actually 'burp' the airbubbles right? Or does it matter?)

There lies the important difference. It needs to be at the bottom.

No, completely different. Using the FC cap turn that into a recovery tank, not an expansion tank. Expansion tanks & Air Seperation Tanks differ in thier roles from recovery tanks.
