Bumpin up the boost a little!

would i have to do any kind of fuel tuning in order to run 2-3 more pounds over stock boost?

I have an extra AEM boost controller unit, and im free this entire weekend, so i figured why not. In my head... it seems like i need to mess with my fuel a little if i boost more. Someone help me out here.

On the stock ECU, I wouldn't dare... stay at 10psi... but with a Power fc ecu or some form of aftermarket one... it's fine.

^ agreed, w/ the stock ecu, i wouldn't try anything above 10psi

boost controller isnt the only thing needed to raise boost safely/properly

I beleive.. cant be sure, but i think it has the pettit ECU i never checked and dont know how to tell. the car was built by pettit before i bought it.

what would proper AFR be to raise it to around 12psi. I'm also installing my AEM uego controller wideband.

If you have Petit ECU, you can raise the boost to 12 PSI. I ran 12.5 PSI on my petit before I got the PFC. I'm pretty sure you could even go higher though, 14 PSI or so. As long as you have supporting mods for all this of course.

Edit: 11.5 AFR would work for 12 pounds. 11.2 for 14 pounds

if i was to tear up the carpet and look at the ecu what would i look for to verify its a pettit ecu. is it obvious, i mean does it say PETTIT in huge letters. or is it a little more hidden.

Typically the ECU will be wrapped with a Pettit sticker. However, it's possible someone could take it off (I'm not sure why someone would want to). In that case, you would have to crack open the ECU and see if it has a daughter board soldered inside.

Do you have an aftermarket IC? If not, keep the boost at 10 PSI as the stock IC is doing as much as it can just to deal with stock boost.

You don't need to tear off the carpet lol. Just remove the REMOVABLE carpet, the plastic scuff plate, and the plastic kick panel hiding the ECU. Petit ECU's usually have a Petit badge on them (sticker), they are just reflashed or chipped (not sure which) of a stock ECU so it looks like a stock ECU except for the sticker they put on.

I ran 12.5 pounds for 2 years on the stock IC without temp issue. Even saw some track time.

ive been reading these instructions on the AEM boost controller and i think i have a problem.. not sure.

the solenoid provided has 3 ports.
In port 1 you install the sintered Muffler
In Port 2 you the wastegate vacuum line
In port 3 you run turbo pressure.

Now thats not a problem running the lines from a wastegate actuator to the AEM solenoid, and one running to the turbo pressure line.. the problem is, there is 2 wastegate actuators.... which one do you run the vacuum lines from?

Did you actually monitor your intake temps? Most people see unusually high intake temps when pushing the stock IC. Here's Steve Kan's thread on what he saw:

https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/hottest-air-water-temp-track-241815/

Increased charge temps will increase the chance of pre-ignition. While some people "get lucky", it's not worth the risk.

I was running 11.0 AFR @ 10 psi with my mods, so it might be safe to crank up the boost just a little at a time to see if your Uego shows drastic changes at WOT.
