builtin muffler silencers

for rx-7 with a aftermarket muffler with built-in silencer really make it alot quieter compaired to a aftermarket muffler without a silencer? and will a muffler with a silencer built in to it take away performance compaired to one that dosn't have a silencer?

thank-you

Well ... of course a silencer on an aftermarket muffler be quieter than a muffler without... that's its whole purpose!

How in the hell is a silencer considered "rice"?

Presilencers DEFINITELY sound better.

I have a straight through 3.5" turbo back w/ just 1 muffler at the end. WAY TOO LOUD.

Inline straight through mufflers will kill the high frequency noise and lower the overall noise level, but RETAIN the low frequency noise. Nice bassy sound.

You are going in the opposite direction of most FD owners. Most owners want that deeper bass rumble (trying to get that V8 sound) than the high tinny sounding exhaust style you hear on most Hondas.

If you want something with a higher tinny sound, check out exhaust like the HKS Hiper:

http://66.216.67.51/product.asp?3=331

or the Rotary Performance Type-S system:

http://www.rx7.com/cgi-local/3catalog.cgi?cat=4&part=5

They are both similar in design.

Silencers look like rice because how they cover up a large portion of the exhaust.
when have you ever seen a sports car with its exhaust half covered?
I never have
have you ever seen a honda with one?
I see em every day

i see tons of sport cars with silencer.. (rx7, supra, GTR, etc) i dont think its rice dude!

it simply give us some option to lower down the decibels to not attract cops... and not get a ticket... that doesnt sound rice to me..

Do you know what "rice" is? Something that is added to a car in the thought of functionality when it doesn't add anything.

So, in this case, a silencer DOES serve a purpose so it's not rice in the least bit. Now, a GT wing on a Pontiac Grand Am, that's rice.

what he's failing to mention is that he's trying to create a huge horsepower FD that will not **** his neighbors off...

i arleady told him, racing beat dual/greddy power extrem + reasonated midpipe + downpipe = quietest best performance exhaust

he keeps on...
