safely - 10psi

You will hear other answers...like 11psi or 12psi.
Stock fuel safe for stock boost, just my opinion so wtf do I know.

Is 10psi still the stock boost level in a 2000 model?

I'm asking because I really have no idea...

You must have the only 3rd gen in Cyprus.

It may depend a little bit on the type of fuel available in Cypruss. But i agree....Safely= 10 psi. More than that and you should get fuel upgrades and Ecu to be safe. But opinions are like buttholes...everyone has one. That's mine!(opinion)

Our premium fuel in Cyprus is 98 Octane. What do u mean ECU upgrade? which one? PFC can come pre programmed? We don't have any engineer that knows how to tune em

They do come pre - programed but from what I have seen with peoples experiences.... the base maps are not reliable for high HP or hard running. Just what i hear though. XS engineering tuned mine for the single . It looks as though everyone just plays with their commander unit in little increments and get a wideband for tuning. You'll have to learnm to tune your own probably.(Or see if Steve Kan wants a trip to Cypruss!!!Haha!!) The others come tuned as well! Some for 12..13...or more i believe!! By the others I mean Peter Farrell Supercars I believe...Someone chime in if i'm mistaken!! Call them and talk to a tech and see what can be done. I'm sure someone can work something out.

If i get a wideband can someone tune it from there? How do you tune your ECU's?

Who rated this thread 5 stars?HAhaha!!! Any way.... doing a search in the ECU forum would probably be the best place to talk about "how" to tune ECU's. It's not something we can explain in a couple of sentences.

I think the basic answer is - don't touch the psi unless you have an aftmarket ecu.

as for stock boost on JDM - I've talked to three owners and they have all (92-96 fds) had a 10-12-10 pattern (stock). So I'm not sure what the real deal is. It would make sense that the export cars were detuned for low octane. I've read that the 99- on cars have a slightly higher boost

that said, you are running 98 octane, which is a couple of points lower than japanese 'high oku', so, again, I'd say leave your boost as is for the moment

Sorry I got you off topic by saying stay at 10 psi until you get an aftermarket ECU and Fuel system!(thought that's what you wanted to know...how high is safe) I was just trying to keep you from popping your engine by going to high on boost without the other required elements(fuel and ignition curve to match!)

If you want to go over 10psi and be safe no boost-controller is going to help you. You need an upgraded ECU (like M2 or Pettit) and then you use your boost-controller to bring the boost up to like 12-13psi. Currently I use my ProfecB on my FD (see mods in sig) and it holds the boost fine at 10psi (I do have some boost issues on the top: 10-6-8 pattern), but I hope the downpipe will fix that. I should install a stage3 M2 ECU and DP + filters in about two weeks when they arrive from the States (buying stuff from jpandes and NewbernD). But until then, my profec is limiting the boost and keeping my engine running.
