boost issues
after two weeks of having the car I finally put a boost guage in, but I put a dp, and apexi intakes on if first, so I don't know what the car was running stock, but now that I have this on I just test drove it like 2 min ago and it hit 15psi and held did not bleed off at the end. My question is this normal with these mods or is there something wrong. thanks
Based solely on the info above, I would think that - if your getting an accurate reading - the wastegate could be a little stuck/slow because a completely stock set up shouldnt boost over 12psi. I also dont think those mods alone could have effected the boost pressure, unless the old dp was being restrictive. I think Its most likely the previous owner did something. But correct me if Im wrong someone.

ok after test drive pulled every gear every time. Now I have no clue whats going on but it starts boosting at 4500rpms the boost guage reads 5psi through the first one and then shoots (feels like it rocket lol) all the way up to 15psi and in third gear hits fuel cut. But I will let anyone who cares know what the problem is tomorrow thanks slayer for the reply
Did you find the problem? Unfortunately I have a lot to learn still about the sequential system. Sounds like the primary turbo isnt functioning proplery, because about 4500 is where the secondary comes to life. Could the prior owner have done a non sequential mod? I am curious to know the cause if you figure this out.
well instead of trying to figure out the problem we just went non sequential and it completely eliminated the problem so it now feels real good and the thing I am really happy about is im only boosting 10psi as opposed to 15, that 15 was so much fun but I knew if it kept up like that im sure I be looking for new turbos or even a new motor. So sorry they didn't locate the problem but now I don't even have to worry about it lol
It's good you quit doing that. I didn't see any fuel upgrades in your list, and 15psi is way too much for stock fuel and ecu. You're lucky you aren't shopping for both new turbos and motor right now. (Broken apex seals usually destroy the turbo turbines)
It sounds like you were simply overboosting due to having too many flow mods and no boost control. If you were to get your boost back down to 10psi with a controller i'll bet most of those problems would have gone away. 15psi is enough to stick the turbo control solenoid and cause secondary boost problems.

If this is your first "Rotary" engine, even worst for a FD, you have alot of learning to do. You'll have some bad times, but once you master the car you see it was worth it. Don't keep hitting the fuel cut. There is a obvious reason that needs to be addressed.
yeah believe me I know it started the first day I put the downpipe on and luckily I never really drove it all the way to redline except for once and then I noticed it hit fuel cut, after that I put it in the shop 3 days later so hopefully there was not to much damaged but from what they said my car is running fine and all I need to do is change the oil pan gasket.... when I idle, its at 1200 rpms then when I engage the clutch and put it in gear it goes back an forth from 1200-1000 when I mean back an forth (as if I was reving it myself).. is this normal?
If there is no damage from overboosting your compression will test out ok.
The funny idle is probably something else - there are plenty of old threads in this forum covering the things to check and adjust.

thats one of the weird things about it, my buddy had adjusted the idle down to 900rpms and then like two days later they just started staying at 1200rpms and then after the non sequential mod they go up and down when put in gear, I wouldn't even know how the hell to search that lol
