Boost Gauge Troubles

I just installed my Defi boost gauge and it looks pretty good, but I can't figure out how to read the damn thing. There is 8 marks between the 0 and 10, so is 10 psi really 10 psi?
When I give it only half gas it will shoot up to ?15 psi? and it would probably keep going if I didnt let off. My only mods are a downpipe and a RB Dual. I know its not good but is this normal? Could the gauge be off, or something else?
Thanks for your help.

I am going though the same thing right now. I put on a Blitz intake last week and I am jumping 12psi+ now. All I have is the intake and catback.

I wonder if my boost guage is busted or am I really boosting that much. I've had to take it easy everywhere I go until I get a boost controller.

10 psi is really 10 psi...those 8 tic marks are the numbers between 0 and 10. do you have a boost controller on the car? when are you overboosting? is the car at the transition when you overboost?

fumanchu
you probly are boosting that high...still on the stock ECU? have a boost controller? you should think about getting a controller to keep it down until you get the supporting mods for higher boost.

Decon Frost, thanks for explaining the gauge marks. No I dont have a boost controller yet. I overboost on the primary turbo, I've never let it get to the transition or the secondary turbo so I'm not sure what kind of boost I run there.

15 psi, at half gas with just a down pipe and RB CB that is a huge spike for those! Your wastegate actuator arm may have fallen off. If that happens the exhaust gas will just push the door shut hence spiking ( I saw 18 psi when mine did this) and no boost control. Gotta get under the car to check this, the lever that the arm should attach to is right about centered under the turbos.

Fu... your just creepin it sounds like

...sounded like he was just tryin to help by making sure you hadn't overlooked the the measure, but hey I dunno....

I sure hope your feeling high and mighty becuase your a real "badass" on the internet.

...is 10psi really 10psi?
no, defi purposly makes guages that give wrong readings.

LMAO, i think you need to do the re-reading.

this is a dumb question but is your guage in bar or psi?

that sentence clearly states that MY QUESTION(is your guage in bar or psi?) is a dumb question. not your post. my reply was a sugesstion to aid in diagnosing your troubles. I think you owe me an apologie.

Maybe if you would have accually read the question you would know. As it said 10 psi, psi is psi not bar. So oviously it is in psi. Now who's question was dumb?

Yeah, I love the looks of the DEFIs, but those turds were too lazy to give you all the hashmarks. Morons.

Like rdavidsrx7 said, your wastegate is not getting the pressure to control it or the arm has come off causing the exhaust to keep driving the turbos and not bypassing the excess. if your WG arm is on securely, then you will want to check your wastegate actuator line to make sure its not busted open. this happened to me before my motor blew.
