Cheapo Manual boost controller. Best value for your money, and works very well.

I'm surprised that nobody's mentioned the Grainger ball & spring check valve boost controller. You can either make your own or buy one from from places like Dawes Devices, boostvalve, or TurboXS.

I am running dual Hallman Pro-RX MBC's and I have a ROCK SOLID boost pattern. The nice thing about the Pro-RX kit is that you get a lighter spring and a ceramic ball for fast response. I also eliminated the solenoids from the process according to damian's instructions.

The Profec E0-1. I have it. Its overkill unless you are also planning to us the E-Manage piggy back to the ECU. Works great as a boost controller, but the Profec B will do every bit as well if all you want to do is control boost. With the LCD screen I am always worried it will just be an invitation for somebody to break in and steal it. But it sure looks nice.

for those of you with the avc-r. I havent had a chance to do the measurements but was thinking of getting one and using the ashtray hole for the mounting area? Go or No-Go?

I mounted mine in the pocket below the radio and it fits perfect.
