Boost 12-10-12!

I just had my gauges installed from a very reputable company. I got the Defi link system. So being that I just had these new babies in their I wanted to make sure that they were working properly. So I took it on the NJ Parkway and ran 3rd gear out and what do ya know 12-10-12. I am not sure If its the gauges or something else. What could the problem be? The car is 100% stock. What could be the problem. I searched, but Couldnt find anything like this

What does your guage read at idle? Should be around 16-18 vac. Your guages could be off or you may just have one healthy 7.

Problem? Sounds like you have a good boost pattern car!

I get the same thing. I had that pattern before i put the downpipe and now with the downpipe. It idles between 17 and 18 and at 3rd gear i get 12-10-12. My Fd has 63 on original engine, but previous owner said that turbos were rebuilded and I have receipt.

My car is a 93 with 12K on original motor. I get 12 pounds in all gears not just 3rd maybe I am lucky or the gauge is off. If my car is running 12 pounds will that effect the engine when I put in mods. Too much boost, I dont want to pop the engine. The car was just checked by a mazda dealer so it works perfectly

The car does Idle between 15 and 20 Vac. Forgot to add that in. I was told defi is a great gauge and everyone in here that wrote about it said so too.

Mine boosts the same pattern. Ari at Rotary Performance told me that with a downpipe you should push 12 psi. Are you sure it's stock? The stock precats are known to fail. Maybe the previous owner installed a downpipe when the precat went out.

Dragon you might want to take a min. and look over the hole car. Look for leaks of any sort in the exhuast or maybe the owner gutted a cat?

Would leaks give less boost? The exhaust hasnt been touched. It was a 50 year old guy who owned it and he was pretty heavy set. He was selling cause of that reason. I checked it out its all stock. Really weird. I think its the gauges or maybe the location where they installed it. Not sure

Maybe you should adjust your pills. You can check out this website:

http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/

There is all kinds of info there about adjusting your boost. I had to adjust mine at the end of last summer. My car is pretty much all stock too. All I did was put in a downpipe and catback. Everything else is more or less stock as far as my engine is concerned (excluding my Aluminum AST which doesn't effect my boost). That's just my two cents.

i had a digital boost gauge with my turbo timer when i got my car (around 11 months ago). i used to see a 13-11-13 pattern aswell. but then, i installed a power fc. and i still see a 12-10-12 pattern on the boost gauge, but my power fc shows a lower pattern 12-10-12. so, go figure.
