Body Stiffeners

No... I am NOT talking about Viagra or any of those inflatable toys you can buy in red light districts.

What I am talking about are the kind of struts used to stiffen the RX-7 frame/body. I have attached a picture of the Mazdaspeed offering below. Anyone have this installed on their cars, and if so, do they provide a noticable improvement?

A stock FD already HAS cross bars at a couple locations...

If I felt the need for more, I'd just buy some bars at the hardware store and drill holes in them and bolt them on.. I don't know what you're getting for 700+ dollars!

does anyone have first hand experience with these stiffeners? Do they work? My FD seems like it is getting fatigued. of course, i could just be getting use to the already fairly stiff chassis and want more

Wargasm: I don't know what you get for $700 dollars either but I have been reading all the new articles about the RX8 and they keep touting the increased body stiffness over the RX7. So I am guessing its got to be good. I just want to know from anyone with experience what kind of improvement you could expect.

Hi

As for body stiffner,
most effective and cost friendly is fender stiffner.
Around $150, more effective than strut bar.
But no visual appeal.

If you pay about $600 for body stiffner,
you shoud buy bushings.
Very effective and very cheap.
Front Lower arm bushings are strongly recomended.

Thanks

A triangle-shapeed brace that goes behind (under the front fenders) that ties the firewall to a forward part of the frame. Cool thing (for stock spec racers) is you can't see it unless you take the fenders off, hehe.

inukai did a moderator tell you that you could no longer post pictures? The forum isn't letting anyone post pics right now. If you have in fact been banned I'd be happy to post the pictures for you (assuming that is ok with the moderators). Send them to CCarlisi@aol.com

Do luck sells body stiffeners, but they don't replace the stock locations. They have like a cross bar that goes behind the seats in the car, and some that go under the car. But there expensive as hell.
