BNR turbos?
BNR turbos?
could somebody point me in the direction of finding more info about BNR turbos? i don't really know anything about them... the search feature is timing out on me and this is probably a faster way to get an answer. from what i've heard, BNR turbos are used in place of the stock twins? aside from that...i don't know anything. are they more reliable? what's the power output? thanks.
SAme, but they really designed for higher boost levels.
On 10 psi, they actually produce a little more heat.
what mods do you currently have, you might want to do a few while you have the turbos out.

read the info on their website, its pretty self explanatory. and the "hp output" your talking about isn't solely based on the turbos. the BNR stage 3 have everything you need to push them past what the stock turbo's can make in power and also their more reliable. u shouldn't have any problems getting in the 300's with just a mild port job.

Yeah, at only 10psi on stock turbos with a few other upgrades. It really doesn't take much to hit 300. CB, DP, ecu, intake, maybe mild port work and you should be in the 300's with a proper tune. Getting over 350 is when it starts to get expensive.
BNR's are on my dream list.
i wouldnt go single...ask any rx7 specialty shop. they always tell me that the guys that put single turbo setups in are always dissapointed with turbo lag. go sequential, bnr stage 3's are a very good choice, unless you are going for track time.
yeah, my next question was going to be about the 99 spec turbos. are these the ones that bumped HP from 255 to 290? I know somewhere along the line the rx7 got a upgrade in power that put it on par with the gtr and supra (more or less).
single
I agree. Go right to the single. In a couple of months you'll be selln the twin upgrade for a single turbo. You know how the saying gos.." once you go single, you'll never go back!" ha ha AND,,....you'll simplify your engine bay alot.
I love my bnr's im running 13.5 psi and i beat a C5 Z06 from a 50 punch. It has great power i havent even turned up the boost yet. My best friend just got a GSX-R 600 and we did a 50 roll the other night and we stayed side by side untill about 100 then he pulling on me. oh and there nonseq
99 spec turbos by themselves will do nothing for you over stock twins. In fact I have never seen any actual evidence that there is any benefit to upgrade to them. Unless your stock turbos have failed I wouldn't spend the money for a set of 99's.
hmm...what else do the 99 spec have compared to the 93-95 then? aren't the series 8 rx7's rated at 290 HP? did they just turn up the boost? i know this sounds kind of dumb...but the rx7's in grand turismo always had 287 hp in stock form. this leads me to believe that the newer rx7 turbos are the reason for increased HP...but what do i know i play gran turismo

The reason 99 Spec Twins are even an option is that you can get them brand spanking new. Not rebuilt or even touched.
Here's my 2 cents:
Unless you live in a place where modifications can/will get you in trouble with the law and registration people, BNR's are basically a waste of time. The reason is you can easily go single turbo and have a simpler setup rather than trying to crank the boost up on the BNR's. I'm not saying Bryan's product is crap, because its not. It just doesn't make a lot of sense unless you have the issue I listed above.
If you are going to keep the power to 360rwhp or lower, the 99 Spec Twins are a good choice if the stock ones are blown. The main issue with rebuilding the stock 93-95 twins is that the parts are nearly impossible to come by. If anything besides the seals are damaged, you are basically out of luck. The 93-95 twins have been rebuilt successfully many times, however it requires balancing which most places don't do. That's what leads to the early failures on the turbos.
I would say the efini turbos are more efficient than the 93-95 stock ones and more reliable at higher than stock boost levels. Efini turbos can reliably run 12 psi with the proper fuel/boost mapping and I know people that run them at 14 psi without apparent problem.
I believe the 99 rx7 had a different, 16 bit ecu that complimented the upgraded hardware.
