Question Big guys Vs. A small FD

Well let me first start off by saying that I have been lurking around in the background of this site for a few months now and have decided that i'm close enuff to getting my FD that i can become part of the group.

I know this is pretty weird question, and i have not seen many things of this nature over time, nor on searches....

But this is what i was wondering....how big are most of you guys, and do you bigger guys have any issues at all w/ operating and owning this car??

I am 6'2 and about 200 lbs. I have driven a few of them just on test drives and the likes and i can operate then fine, though my knees start to come up around the stearing wheel. through normal driving i was not having any problems at all, but i imagine that if there was some serious driving things could get a lil messy. I know this is quite a sports car, and every sports car i have owned gave me problems of this nature, (except my old 930 turbo) but it has plenty of room for my feet w/ shoes (size 13) which was IMPOSSIBLE w/ my old 1988 Fireo GT.

The female is telling me the car is too small for me, i just need to prove to her that its supposed to be a tight fit and that us taller people can still enjoy the fine car.

I'm 6'4.5" and 295lbs, its a tight fit, but i fit into my car well enough. i drove it 14 hours from Atlanta to NYC when i bought it, and my legs didn't start to cramp until after 10 hours.

i say go for it!! just make sure you have another, roomier car as a daily driver. there is no way i could drive my car every day, my knees and back would be in constant pain.

I had the same problem before, my leg will hit the steeringwheel constantly. I bought a long sparco spacer and a 320mm steeringwheel, the combo works perfectly for me.

besure to get the sparco spacer, they are the longest one i can find.

Hey, at 6'3" and 250lbs (no belly) if I can fit, you can should be able to fit. I have a 35" inseem, so I have a long torso.

Nice thing that I have noticed about Rx-7s, after owning 7 of them over 20 years, they keep you limber from the in-and-out.

You should do a search on the topic, it's been discussed many times.

I'm 6'2" and 245, and it fits like a glove. You can forget about left foot brakeing, or heel/toeing (you can still roll your toes over onto the gas..more like a toe/heel)

FOr the Bigger MAn ;)

This is a major problem and I'm glad somebody finally brought this point up....
I have a 18.33" ***** and it's very difficult to fit behind the steering column
Sometimes while I'm turning my dick gets stuck between the holes in the steering wheel and gets all tangled up. This is okay though because I then have something to do while I am waiting for the turbos to cool down before getting out.
I think you can get the steering wheel mod done from pettit racing where they fill in the gaps of the wheel for about 50 bucks....
Sorry dude but you phrased the question for a reply of this nature....and yeah there have been many posts about how taller people can also fit into the car nicely. I've been on the forum for about 2 weeks just reading and have hardly posted anything, I don't even have an rx-7 yet and you don't sound like you deserve to have it because you don't know anything and you have the car as a reference so just hand it over before I bust a cap
Sorry admins please don't kick me off or anything I just thought that this was a dumb question and I wanted to discourage these types of questions from new users (like myself).
Thanks

I'm 6'4 and 225 pounds...It's kind of tough for my legs as i can't lift my whole leg for shifting...i have to use the tips of my feet. I think I need to figure out a solution...this thread actually was a lot of help for me...i'll look into the possibilities

I'm 6' 175lbs and the clutch was bothering me too. So I did the clutch adjustment mod via scuderiaciriani.com. It made a major difference.
As far as Snook's coment, that wasn't very nice, but I laughed my *** off.

only problem is that the steering wheel is not adjustable so I hit my knees on it occasionally, not bad though....

Also, this has been discussed a ton b4. There was one thread, basically titled the same, that is lik 4 or 5 pages long

Fiero + FD

Hah, no way I have two cars, an '88 Fiero and a 93 R1, and I knwo exactly what you're tlaking about with the footspace in the fiero.

I'm 6'2", aroudn 210 and I'm glad to say i fit in both cars fine, the 7 is a little cramped around hte knees but i'm able to heel - toe and do all the creative footwork you're gonna need to be able to do.

Can the aftermarket seats be possitioned lower and farther back? From what I remember of raceing seats (from puting some in my 69 beetle way back when) they are much thinner then stock ones, so seems they can be placed farther back...I think this and a combo of a smaller steering wheel should help us big guys.

I'm 6'3" and 260LBs, I fit pretty good buts its always nice to have a little more room around my knees my hands hit my knees all the time.

I'm 6'6 280 and built. It was a tight fit until I got a new stearing wheel and seats. I have a momo stearingwheel and some sparco tornio seats. I have PLENTY of room in there now. Only thing I am debating is puting a seat in the back and making it a 2+2 because my fiance's litle brother likes to ride around with me, and It sucks when they both want to go with me. Plus it makes a nice shelf for crap and gives ya some f%ck space
