Fast Idle Cam is bad, now what?
I've determined that the cause for my high idle is that the fast idle cam is not disengaging as the car warms up. In fact I can't even push the little plunger in with my finger, it seems to be stuck out. Can this be fixed or does it need to be replaced? It seems so integrated with the throttle body, can it be replaced or does the whole TB have to go? TIA.
Thats your Dash pot.... it should be VERY close to that throttle peice but NOT touching it. It is for when you let off throttle. THe dash pot "catches" the throttle and lets it back into proper position instead of shutting the butterflies completely. it should NOT be touching your trottle braket... if it is, just give it a couple of turns OUT move it away from the braket. If its deffinitely stuck out, than replace it, mazda put it there for a reason so get it replaced. Hope this helps

Why don't you just remove all the dashpots? It makes life a lot easier and you don't need them as all they do is keep the car from accelerating too quickly and letting the throttle snap closed which can result in backfire.
