Koyo Radiator $330
Downpipe & Midpipe combo $120
Apexi PowerFC w/Commander $1000
SMIC $400???
850cc in the primarys $150
Fuel Pump $100
Tune the PowerFC $400
Clutch and Lightend flywheel $700
Blowoff Valve $150
AST removed $20
Fan Switch Mod $5
Smog pump remove: FREE!, actually you might need block off plates...so maybe $100.

Total: $3375

assuming some parts can be bought even cheaper used...like the PowerFC, Intercooler, Flywheel and clutch, FC radiator cap part that mounts to t-stat housing. etc etc

Unless the engine needs a rebuild, streetport should not even come to mind.

Well it says intake and exhaust...So i said every mod beyond that i can think of that falls into his budget.

but no one said anything about 125k on the motor. Tell him to put that money towards a rebuild and porting.

1. Rebuild Streetport
2. Radiator
3. Downpipe now i guess (you could run downpipe, intake, and exhaust off stock ecu and fuel). Beyond that u need some kind of engine management tho.

but do all the other things i said after he has more money.

Where in VA are you, and how many reliability mods have been done? If you don't start with those first and performance mods are a waste.

if he's only get $3k and 125k on the motor, just tell him to sell the car. i'm not even joking. i normally don't recommend this, but he can't afford to have the motor rebuilt and its GOING to go. tell him to just chill for a bit, maybe get a new/better radiator put in and save his money so he can do maintenance.

why do people try to modify things when they can't afford maintenance on it as it is? i just don't get it.

you know what, i changed my mind... my best recommendation is to take the $3k and go buy a second car. that way he has something to drive in the event that the engine does take a dive.

At 125k miles, ALL of the seals and both rotor housings should be replaced, plus the side housings will need to be lapped. That's at a bare minimum really. The rotors may not work well with 2mm seals anymore and may need to be machined out for 3mm seals.

An $1100 rebuild is a very budget-limited rebuild and will not cover any of the stuff I mentioned. Let alone a new oil pump, cleaned/bored-out/new injectors, all new vacuum lines, some new solenoids, or any of a number of other things you would want to do for a RELIABLE and PROPER rebuild.

Also, is your friend doing all of the R&R himself?

Sorry, but if you think a good rebuild at 125k miles costs $1100, you better think again.

Ah yes, the very words far too many young (and older, for that matter) people live by. Too bad eventually you learn that, you do indeed, have to pay later.

Dude your crazy... That's the best way to go. You have time to digest reality and plan ahead. Not only that you have a working FD.

What do you prefer? WOT taking out 4 out 6 apex seals all ot once, hence ruining your housings, then having one seal get sucket up into your turbos and taking them out as well?

well..usually the housing has to be replaced anyways, cause it can warp when overheated. so i replaced it.

and turbos are easily replaceable anyways.

i know what i mean tho, now it would suck since im single and ive spent alot more time and money.
