Belt Tips
Trying to get my new waterpump/airpump/alternator belt on. The alternator won't go down any more and I don't really see a way to adjust the air pump. Any tips for getting this belt on? It doesn't seem to stretch very much and I only need maybe an inch or so. Thanks guys.

Thanks Damon. I saw exactly what you were talking about, I was just retarded. Got the belt on, then realized I forgot to put one of the hard vacuum lines on the Y-Pipe. Have to take it all off again!

I don't want to start another thread so here goes.
Changed oil, no more coolant leak (replaced turbo coolant lines), and refilled the coolant. Took it out for a spin and it looked like I was boosting the same as before. The idle seemed a little rougher than it had been. Not much, but some. Car also hadn't been turned on in 5 days.
Anyway... I left the apartment to go for another test drive this evening, and forgot my wallet. I pulled into a spot, put it into reverse, and the car almost died (fans, and lights on). I think it must have hit about 100 RPM. Came back to the apartment and experimented. When the lights were off this didn't occur. It was a little better when going into first, and also a little better with my head unit off. Lights on, car nearly dies; in reverse especially so.
Here is what exactly occurs. When it's put into gear it jumps like it used to, maybe 100 to 200 RPM, but then it slowly goes down until the idles gets really rough around 4-500 RPM, at which point it jumps up to about 900 RPM and repeats the process.
So, something electrical I assume. Is it possible I tightened the alternator belt too tight? The only electrical connections I touched were the two on the battery, when I took it out, and the one connection on the airpump when I removed it.
I'm really exhausted from putting everything back together in the 100+ degree heat, so any help is truly appreciated.

Mine does the same thing, although not quite as badly. I've been told it's probably an electrical grounding issue, so I plan on doing the grounding straps soon. I think with more electrical load, the engine has to work just that much harder that it can't idle well anymore, kinda like the straw that broke the camels back.

At least that's easy to test, and needs to be done anyway I'm just so tired of working on the car in this heat.
Oh yeah, I also took out the canister that holds the freon, or whatever it is. It was making my life a pain when putting the intercooler back in.
On a side note, guess what came out of there? Warm air! Amazing that my AC wasn't working

Blow up or win
Agreed, try cleaning your negative battery post and clamp before anything else. You may need a new clamp as well - the OEM's tend to kind of fall apart over time - they are pretty flimsy.

Stopped doing it today. What does this mean?
I'm still going to be suplimenting the grounding wires with some larger ones as soon as I can get to a hardware store.
