bad ecu?
bad ecu?
Trying to get my 99 twins working properly. I've had tons of issues and solving them one by one. My precontrol solenoid was bad so I got new precontrol/wastegate solenoids from Ray. Had a lot of corrosion and sticky solenoids in the rats nest, so I got the custom solenoid rack. Secondary intake boot was collapsed, fixed that. Now it builds boost fine from a low rpm pull clear up till redline, as soon as I shift and get back into it there's no boost. Im thinking maybe my ecu is bad. Im pondering getting a power fc that way when I finally break down and go single its one less thing to buy. But I don't want to get it right now unless I need it. Everything is correct. Vac lines are all new and routed properly. No leaks. Turbos are definitely good. Engine is freshly rebuilt, im starting to run out of ideas. Who else has any?
This is an indication of that turbo control solenoid "E" sticking closed under pressure. Some solenoids do not have enough spring pressure to reliably unseat the internal plunger and release the pressure hollding the TCA in secondary mode. The result is that the sequential system gets out of sync and won't build boost properly until reset.
Solenoid "E" would be the third one back from the front of the engine, correct? If so, that one has been replaced by the solenoid rack. And after spending over $500 on that I sure hope it doesn't have a bad solenoid.
DarkSlide, when you refer to the new solenoid rack, is it the Mazda JDM 99+ style box that replaces the rack? Or is this an aftermarket solenoid setup, e.g., saxyman system?

Small update. I took it for a ride last night and everytime it builds boost theres a rapid clicking coming from the rear passenger side of the engine bay (where the new solenoids are) so maybe one of those are actually bad.
I finally got my wideband and boost gauges in. It doesn't build more than 7psi and after the 4500rpm transition it creeps down to about 3. Also, at idle it goes lean, way lean. My wideband reads 3 lines. There are definitely no vacuum leaks, it idles very smooth with no surging.
