Bachelor Life and the FD

Well I am now a single man (although the FD will always be my true love) and the poor car is out of comission . There are just so many things that I'd love to do to it, but time and money just won't allow. Nice weather is starting to prevail and as we all know, our cars are major babe magnets! Now if I could only take her out for a spin.

So I sit here in the wee hours of the morning (3:52 CA) wondering why Mazda can't have insomniac mechanics to do my compression check, when I actually have some spare time. I can't wait for summer vacation to actually have time to dedicate to the FD.

I also have some questions regarding my future build-up: if you could follow my link regarding switching to non-sequ.:

https://www.rx7club.com/west-rx-7-forum-193/any-norcal-non-sequencial-runners-421223/

Well, I just had to vent (can't get to sleep). So if I get any replies (let alone views) I'll be uber surprised.

Thanks

If you can get the sequential system to work right I say keep it that way. It has MUCH better response on the street and is just fine for track use also.

There are some benefits to a good single turbo setup as far as high end horsepower and simplicity. But as far as I'm concerned going non sequential with the stock turbos is just for those who have "given up" on the sequential system and want the simplicity of a single turbo (but without the extra power potential) without actually having to change turbos.

I agree with the others: test all the solenoids and actuators while you have the engine out, and restore the stock sequential system. Dunking your head in a financial tank just to get a single turbo is kinda quitting, IMO.

The grass is always greener, bruddah. But I haven't been single for like 8 years now. Its my turn to have fun.

Thanks for all the replies fellas. I've been thinking about just keeping the seq., but I just was wondering if anyone local had the *true* ns conversion that I could ride with, just to see if it may suit my driving better.

All in all, I just need to get my baby running again (only one more month before summer ) and just learn how to drive it hard. Depending on the shape of everything (motor, turbos, etc...) will I want to convert or change anything right now. So, for now I think I'll just stick with seq.

Real-life sucks? At least you should have money. Going to college and trying to earn money at the same time, now that sucks. But now I have time to focus on myself and the car. I'ma keep my head up, and get 'er runnin' again.

Since when? Most girls think my FD is a hardtop Miata.

Anyways, you should really troubleshoot your turbos. I worked on mine for a good month last summer. After all of the work, I must say that a 10-8-10 boost pattern really can make you grin from ear-to-ear.

Keep it seq. I know that car and the seq system works perfectly.

Street driving, especially in traffic seq rocks.

Non-seq cars typically have a lower resale value also. I know you think you'll never sell the car but many end up selling for one reason or another.

I take it you have never had to diagnose the sequential system.

No, I dont plan on touching the sequential system until it gives me problems. I guess "she" will start talking back and giving me **** when I do start having problems with the sequential system.

I'm getting a 10-8-8 pattern but i think this is due to a clogged cat or tcs??.

It has given me other problems though. Check out my screen name
