AVCR users check in!! need help.

After washing my car today, i heard clicking sound coming under the hood (same sound when you are boosting). it was coming out from turbo solenoid for avcr. water mst got in...

Now, car wont boost more than 6psi (in A or B setting). and boost reading on display is all messed up.
instead of 0 vaccum it reads - 200+..

Any body else experienced this problem?

carefully take it apart and dry out the inside of the pressure sensor. Mine went a little wacky when it got wet too. Seal it up nice with some RTV sealant. See if that fixes the problem. A little bit of light oil in the solenoid might not be a bad idea either, if it's sticking or something because of the water.

I don't know a whole lot about my AVCR but I'm just curiuous . When you turn the AVCR off do you get 8 psi? or is it still just boosting at 6psi?

Are they serially linked to the control unit like the HKS units? I know on them you can only use the solonoid that came with the control unit, might check that first, if not you should be able to get one somewhere.

I'm having the same issue.. all the sudden, I only hit .50 on my controller (about 7lbs)..

Can someone please explain how this could be?? I've heard that when AVCR is off, you'll only hit 7lbs.. how does that happen??

when your boost controller is turned off, i think it reverts to the spring in you wastgate. so the default on my car for example is 6psi when its turned off. i'm not sure about you guys only getting .50bar, i cant get more than 1.0, but i need to troubleshoot.....sometimes i wish i had a simple ball and spring controller....

While the sensor is not sealed well, it is sealed well enough to not let water evaporate without taking it apart.

You can buy they solenoid. It is part of the boost control kit for the PFC. You might get somt things you don't need though. Or you can make your own solenoid for about 1/5th the price.

When the boost controller is off, like praximus said, it acts like it's not there. Boost instantly starts to crack open the wastegate, reaching full open at aproximately 7psi (or approximately .5 kg/cm^2). This is why when the boost controller is off, boost builds much slower.

The solenoids are pretty simple units and i wouldn't suspect that it's bad. You might try to put in a bleed valve and make sure that it's not something screwy with your turbos. At least after checking all the simple stuff, that's what i'd do.

i think i found my problem.. i think its my wiring for avcr.
went to sensor chk option and boost sensor read .94V (instead of 1.5V or close).. checked ecu and i did find some loose wires...one night sensor was close to 1.5V. My car was boosting close to normal condition. well.. close... (13 then 10 psi... usually 12 then 13).

however, i still didn't hear my solenoid clicking sound while i was boosting...

Let me take it apart.. im sure its gotta be dried by now though.. lol

Im going to rewire the avcr soon.. if this doesn't fix the problem, i'll get a new solenoid.
