Oil Light

When I'm driving, mostly when I'm going fast (100-140km) my oil light comes on. I slow down until it goes off then gradually speed up again to continue on. I've checked the oil several times and had to add oil once but the oil is topped off and the light still comes on. Not sure what the problem could be, the light comes on when it gets to about 4 and a little above. Am I doing something wrong? I am new to RX-7's. I would think it'd come on when I was gunning the gas but it happens just when I'm cruising

The oil light is only connected to the oil level sensor in the pan. I double checked the wiring diagram and the warning light will not come on due to any pressure variations as the only input it receives is from the level sensor; it will only come on due to low oil levels in the pan. If the dipstick says the level is fine, replace the sensor.

Really? I could've sworn the light came on for pressure problems, like a blockage. Huh. My bad!

so change oil again change out the filter and check the sensor. i haven't noticed any oil leaks at all. the oil pressure gauge reads 8 - 0 and 4 in between. the pressure never goes over 4 and the light will still come on.

Just check and replace the sensor if needed. Changing the oil and filter will do nothing for your problem.

According to the schematic the warning light on the oil pressure gauge is only connected to the level sensor and the pressure gauge is only connected to the pressure sensor. Neither knows what the other is doing; they are independent.
