Do not buy an expensive aftermarket suspension that you cannot get serviced in your country.

You would be better off either spending more and getting something you can rebuild (and revalve) in the UK, or spending less and getting something you can just throw away and replace when the shocks wear out.

I would just get the Ohlins kit instead.

Thanks, but it's coming with the car I bought. So this doesn't help

I just want to understand if it's a good suspension for the RX7.

it came in a couple of flavors, there is a Pro, and a Circuit spec, and maybe more.
i think they have been NLA for a long time.

i think if the spring rate is reasonable, it'll be pretty good. i've been in a very fast FD with a set, but its been so long it almost seems irrelevant

Those N1s are good for the track or if your car is lowered because they're really STIFF. If you want looks over function or if you only track your car, they're great. If you daily drive the car and want to keep your fillings in your teeth and don't want to feel every pebble in the road, you might wanna swap 'em out for something less punishing, like those Ohlins he mentioned.

Off the shelf, they're 16 kg front and back. That's the same rate as what I have.

I've been in two FDs with this rate, and it doesn't feel *that* stiff because the FD has a really good suspension, and because of the motion ratio. You will feel every bump, though.

On the upside, the barely has a hint of body roll.

I would say it's an acceptable level for a street-driven track car, but if you're primarily a street car, I agree you should get something like the Ohlins.

I recognize those! I remember the early 00's when Apex'i offered a full catalog of supporting parts for FD and personally felt like that was the pinnacle of genuine jdm tuner enthusiasm. When there was still a purity to the perception of the culture and the phenomenon hadn't begun to spread beyond its' borders.

Hell yeah, I remember those days too! My Protege5 sat on 5Zigen wheels and JIC suspension.

I recently put a set of Zeal coil overs on my FD. The spring rates are 11K/10K and the shocks are high quality (something that should maybe be mentioned...Spring rates are a good rule of thumb, but shock quality is huge too. There's a big difference between the Zeals and a set of eBay coil overs with the same 10k spring rate).
