apexi intake

could someone please post a pic of the new apexi power intake installed in their FD. im thinking about getting it but i want to see how it mounts in the car and how it looks. also, does anyone know if the intake will work with a hard intake pipe kit such as rx7fashions or M2s? thanks for the replies

Works fine with a hard intake pipe kit (I don't think that there is much difference in these). No pics sorry, and I have switched in an older M2 style. The Apexi won't work with most larger SMICs (one similar to the M2 med/lg).

I got a suggestion. Why dont you just port the stock airbox? I just did that yesterday and it made a BIG difference. That way you get good flow (drop in K&N filter) and still some cold air from stock ducting. I got about another 1-2 pounds of boost after doing this and a lot more boost response. It took about an hour and didnt cost a penny, unless you dont have the K&N filter. Just take out your air box, and drill out the bottom of the box. I put a hole in every little square, except around the radiator hose impressions. That would be my suggestion, that way you save the money, and still get the performance. And you dont get the annoying air pump sound. I think the 300 for an intake can be better used in a computer or something else.

Just my 2 cents

LJ

Oh, and if I hadnt said it, It made a very noticable difference.

Did you fabricate a duct to the bumper opening, or did you just drill holes in your air box? Got any pics?

I just drilled holes in the bottom. One in each full square. I think I used a 3/4" bit. I didnt do any additional ducting because the stock ducting will be sufficient. This way the intake wont heat soak the intercooler at idle, but will still get cold air, and more air if it needs it. Took about an hour.

Can anyone else who installed the Apexi Power Intake explain to me the purpose of the "what looked like a huge pill" that is installed into one of the hoses?

In the Apexi Power Intake box, there is a metal piece, about an inch in diameter, by an inch long with an 1/4" hole in the center that is installed. Obviously it is to restrict the air flow to something (probably because the apexi flows so much more air).

I installed the piece, but wondered if it was necessary and to what device the intake goes to?

If you don't know what I am talking about, I'll post pics of the hose it went into along with the directions from the Apexi Power Intake that shows it.

Just curious...

SEARCH!! Scott talked about this a while back. Do a search under apexi intake, slopoke, and in 3rd gen area. You will find it.

that silver piece? you just put it in ur acv hose, like the instruction shows. it's used to reduce airpump noise.
