Anyone using Mobil 1 or K&N oil filters?
Stock $ 3.75
K&N $ 9.00
Mobil1 $12.00
It says it's designed for Mobil 1 synthetic. So are any of you guys running synthetic using this filter?

I wanted the K&N gold filter (HP-1008) but it's special order or online only.

I have always used the OEM filters. The valving is Mazda standards. Most name brand filters now-a-days filter in the micron range that can catch the smallest particles. The only concern is the valving.
I never take chances with the oiling system.

Puralator Pure 1. I read an oil filter test a while back and this one was up there with Mobil1. Its also about half the price. I use the one ment for a 2nd gen because it is a bit bigger and has more filtring capacity.

Mazda OEM filters. between my Dad and I we have gone through dozens of them. (the same filter fits my FD, my Dad's Miata, and his Protege) absolutly no complaints and they are inexpensive.

Its only one mazda oil filter - I know. But last fall I had a faulty seal on the filter and it blew right out. Oil everywhere... never will use Mazda again... because of that and the shat customer service.

I read someplace that Mazda recently changed OEM suppliers and it's new filters are produced by PUREOLATOR.
I use Either the MAZDA OE filter ($5 from my local dealer) or the Larger Pureolator Pure-1 (early T-II part#) filter <$5 at PepBoys.
