Anyone use glowshift gauges
I have been looking for gauges since i just bought a beautifully mint 94 bb fd and I wanna keep it that way so I'm looking to install boost, wideband a/f,and I think a water temp gauge. I was looking around and I saw glowshift has some good prices but are they quality? Does anyone have experience with them and does anyone have recommendations on gauges if these are cheap crap I am looking to match the black face red lighting of my dash cluster. I tried searching the forum for a thread on gauge selection if I missed one I apologize and appreciate any input

I've used them for a while. They do the job. I had the water temp, oil temp/pressure gauges. Mine were the 7 color ones. I've only had one problem with them. On a really really cold day my water temp gauge got stuck on start up. I just gave it a single tap and all was well. I think for the money they are the best. The only reason I don't have them in my car now is that I went PLX.

I have a glow shift boost gauge in my carbon amemiya steering pod and it works fine and matches the stock gauges very well. When wiring i just left the yellow (permanent live) disconnected as the whole 7 color change thing does nothing for me.

I haven't used their gauges, but as a company they are sketchy. I bought their "RX7 triple guage pod" off of ebay. It was not designed for the RX7 at all, it was a universal fit so it looked like junk. I sent it back and they woudln't return it for full value. If you're going to advertise something as fitting a specific car, it better fit.

As far as mounting pod I was gonna do the center speaker and maybe boost on the steering column don't get me wrong the a pillar looks cool but idk it's so overdone

The a-pillar is a terrible spot to mount gauges. I was going to have 3 of them up there but after having the 3 gauge a pillar pod up there, I realized how much it obstructed my view. My hand sometimes hit the pods with the OEM steering wheel. I only have a single gauge on my a pillar and 3 in the center. I don't like putting a gauge on the steering column because the up spec'd gauges with the 6 o'clock tach will be blocked a bit.

I have the oil temp gauge and it works well. The tinted series are hard to see in the daytime, however. I would go with the non-tinted series if that bothers you. They are certainly cheap felling/looking compared to higher end gauges, but they are good gauges for the money.

I'd skip the Glowshift gauges. They're just cheap China-made junk. Get a good gauge - you say you've got a mint FD, the car deserves some QUALITY parts. At the low end I'd go with Greddy.

We have a customer's car at the shop now with some cheapo gauges not working, and I'd be willing to bet they've already went south after less than 6 months' time.
It's a sad state of affairs that the community has come to knock-off wheels, replica junk all over ebay, intercooler copies, etc etc.
I will say I've used Defi gauges for almost 6 years now with zero problems....... they just work.

I bought a triple pod, water temp, oil temp, oil pressure from glowshift, fits perfectly, and they does the job. The only thing is the sender unit of the oil pressure is not that good or something. (some of the time the oil pressure will points at zero and never move up) Its the sender unit that is bad sometime. common problem for FD or something.

Now, for cars that still have their *original* OEM (almost 20 year old) sending unit, it's true that a lot of them don't work well. It's an easy fix cured by installing a new sending unit from Mazda.

A second for DEFI 'D' series. As you probably already read while searching, they're discontinued. But they come up used in the Parts For Sale section or even new on Ebay occasionally. Match the stock dash gauges very close, including back-lighting. The temp gauge actually reacts slightly quicker than my commander and seems to be dead-on accurate. Boost has also worked without issues. Had both for several years. If you want I think I still have a picture or two.
Or even just cleaning the contact at the sender.
