Anyone in the Bay Area Know How to Install a Downpipe?
Any expert know how to install a downpipe in a FD (i still have the precat)? If yes, I really hope you can do it for me. Because the labor that mechanics charge is quite expensive. I'll have the downpipe ready for you. Also, I need to upgraded all the hoses as soon as possible (stock hoses are screwed up). Please let me know if you're willing to do it, I'll order the downpipe and hoses soon. Thanks.
Here's my email and cell#: mightyslash@hotmail.com and 650-575-4648

I went to Melbourne to help my friend renovate his new office space ... I was going to stay the 4 days I had off but there was no clean place for me to sleep so I came back after one day

I don't mind doing the work if I have time, but renovating office space sounds dull.

The actual work wasn't that great. The office space was about 1000 square feet. But it was just soooo nasty in there! I wouldn't have minded staying the whole 4 days but I didn't want to sleep there. The good thing was its in the middle of a party type area. With a lot of bars and people around that were my age. I am sure I would have had fun.

Ivan (works at Sunnyvale Mazda, but does lots of side work from home) can do this for you. Generally he's pretty available after around 3pm. PM me if you want his number.

The downpipe is easy if nothing goes wrong. But if a stud breaks in the turbo during removal of the pre-cat, I think the turbos will have to come out.
And as far as the hoses go... forget it. It takes hours, and if you aren't extremely fluent in a task like that its going to take you a whole day or so. And if you happen to break the nipple on one of the solenoids, your car may possibly be dead in the water until you get a replacement.
For the risk that rotary specialists take in performing these tasks, I think the prices that Ivan charges are more than reasonable.
