differential sheared off?!!

i just got new tires and am finally getting traction. thats great, fine and dandy.

last night i took off from a roll like i always do to keep from getting wheel hop. there was a nasty CRACK! and the mad amounts of grinding and sparks. very loud. im dragging a dozen trash cans loud. and when i let off my tranmission would drop down about two inches. i bust out the flashlight and to my suprise... the bracket piece that holds the front of the diff had sheared completely off and if was swinging up and down. what they hell kinda **** is this?

my mods are an intake downpipe exhaust. thats it. it is no torque monster... at least not enough i thought that it would shear that bracket off. im excited. its going to be expensive.

The Power Plant Frame (PPF) fails somewhat frequently. Mazdaspeed (I think) has an upgraded one. Many people have had issues with their PPF, usually cracking with loud clunking noises. Usually failures have been attributed to significant (damaging) wheel hop.

Is it the PPF or some other part? I have all the parts, I'll check on the price.

time for a KAAZ LSD and Mazdaspeed PPF. but you shouldn't have broken the stock units with only those mods...especially from a roll.

I've heard of people welding supports onto the stock PPF to strengthen it also if you don't want to spend the $ on the Mazdaspeed one.
