So as the title say? I was under my car and saw this;

 

Either a mazdaspeed piece(should be a badge riveted to it) or a red painted stock one.

 

thats the ppf every fd has one, but since its red it might be the Mazdaspeed version or maybe someone painted it red

 

that looks like the mazdaspeed power plant frame..

 

It's not a diff brace. That is the power plant frame of PPF. It connects the diff to the transmission to control engine torque. As stated above Mazdaspeed supplied a PPF and it will have a number plate on it if it is genuine About 10 years ago a number of immitations were sold as Mazdaspeed but were later determined to be fake...simply painted stock PPFs. They look nice in red but without the plate = fake.HTH,

So I just took a look at it and it has a plate on

 

What does the plate say? How is it attached to the PPF?

There are some knockoff Mazdaspeed PPF's floating around that are just stock repainted PPFs using thick stickers made to resemble the plate.

 

It should be an etched *metal* plate that sits about a half mil off the surface of the PPF.

Well there is defently a metal plate on it I haven't gotten under it today due to rain but I'll just do it haha

 

Is there any difference between the ms one other than its red

 

From what I've read it is 10% stronger and lighter

 

^The $64,000 question. No one AFAIK, has any real evidence that it's different other than cosmetic. And other than drag launch senarios...something the FD wasn't intended for, I'm not aware of anyone having chronic issues with the stock PPF. Especially at anything resembling stock power levels. So I still wonder....
