another smoke thread:sorry

every time i start my 7 in the morning, there is a little bluish white smoke. It lasts for 3-5 secs and then its gone. I have a new engine in it. Have a full exhaust. DP, knightsport HF CAT, HKS exhaust. while i drive it theres no smoke at all. Also thing which bugs me is that every time i start it (hot or cold) it smokes for 3-5 secs and then all clear. And i'm not talking about a huge cloud of smoke or anything. I havent rtied starting it with the oil filler cap open, however i did read about it a while back. Am at work now, will be going home and trying it. However, can you guys give me any other input. Some people say that its normal, a little bluish white smoke at cold startup (i dont believe that mazda wouldnot have been able to sell 1 unit if that was the case). however in my case its more like every startup. 3-5 sec its all gone. Doesnt smoke at idle or while driving. Think my turbo is shot?? original turbo at 52500kms NOT miles.

Give me tips on what i should check and look for.

Thanks a lot

sounds like oil smoke if its got a definite blue tinge thats fine its just oil collecting and burning and is normal. smell it, if it smells sweet start saving money. also are you running that exhaust with no ecu? im not sure its a killer idea.

thanks Barban for your reply. Yes it is a definate blue thingie. It doesnot smell sweet or anything. I have absolutely no coolant loss bro. The engine is new. The thing is i dont believe that it is normal. How can it be normal?? Would Mazda have sold a single unit if their top sports car smoked during start up in thier showroom?? Where do you think the oil is collecting. Its like 2-3 seconds are after startup. Thats it. I know running a full exhaust is a very bad idea. I do want to get a boost controller and maybe a more restrictive end box.

Thanks

how new is the engine? when i got my rebuild i had a whole lot of oil built up in my exhaust from when i blew it and it smoked like all hell for about 1000miles. 2500km? are you running synthetic or natural oil? maybe your oil is on the thin side and in need of change. the restrictive stock cat is what prevented the cars from smoking off the showroom floow. i dont have any experience with a highflow cat but i would assume its not taking care of it off the bat but it warms up and then takes care of it in short order.

the engine has 550kms (not miles) now. Idles very smooth. holds -17-18in hg vaccum. No complains. Except that it smokes for 2-3 secs on startup. Its bluish. I'm using dino for the breakin since most of the people recommend that. Will most def switch to syn as soon as the break in is done. And the HF CAT (knightsport), the day i installed it, i can go sniff my tail pipe, emissions is that clean. I love the CAT. I can understand the problem of running a full exhaust with the stock ECU. Am going to use plates and a boost controller. Cant speed that much in my cuty, nor will i go wot for 2500kms. So i guess i have time that way. Thanks guys.
