Another boost problem!! Arghh :(

oK... so I tested my boost the other day and got this. Very odd too. From WOT beginning from 1st, 10psi, 2nd it takes a little time for boost to build up, I get 10psi by about 5000rpm, 3rd 10psi, then 4th I get 10, and goes down to 5psi, then back up to 10psi.. not to concerned about that... but when I WOT from any gear, I will spike/creep to 14/15psi on my stock ECU which is not good and only occurs on my primary turbo, but this has been occuring for more then a year now (recently installed boost gauge) and nothing is yet to happen fingers crossed. I installed a manual boost controller but didn't help with the spiking... any ideas guys? Thanks in advanced!! and I also do NOT hit fuel cut when hitting 14/15psi

Mods - pretty much stock, bigger exhaust, pod filters and boost controller, everything else is stock.

you probably should port your wastegate. that will help with the spike...

not sure why you would see a 5lb hesitation only between 4th and 5th gears.

thats strange? something must be wrong with wat you have hooked up(boost controller or gauge). i never heard of this happening when running stock boost without changing intake temp...

Are you running a catless exhaust? If so, that'd be your problem. You'll need to put a cat on it or port the wastegate.

What you have is a boost spike. Porting the wastegate is not the solution - it may help, but the real problem is the speed of the stock boost controller. A manual boost controller based on a ball-spring valve or electronic boost controller is the direct solution. What kind of manual boost controller are you running?

Exactly what is your intake, intercooler, and exhaust setup?

i was seeing 13-14 psi spikes with a manual boost controller. after porting my wastegate - no more spikes.

I have a cat on my exhaust, I was seeing these figures before I installed my boost controller... pretty much have a 3" exhaust, pod filters, intercooler is stock, along with everything else. The primary turbo used to sit at 12psi, but now its at 10psi when it drops after the spike, due to the boost controller. I'm planning to port my wastegate in the next few weeks, is there site showing how to port it? Thanks guys.

You have to remove the turbos, to begin with. then you have disassemble them to port the wastegate. Are you mechanically inclined?

Are you running a stock main cat? Something doesnt sound right. You should not be seeing boost spikes that badly.......

As far as I know, I have the stock cat.. as I said previously everything is pretty much stock... and yes, I am mechanically inclined, and know I have to disassemble the turbos, but am not 100 sure how exactly to port the wastegate.

Hey guys, I just did a 3rd gear pull ang got this. WOT at about 3000rpm, hit 12-13psi max! straight away, went down to 10psi, then at about 5000rpm roughly, it dropped to 4psi.. there for a second, started bouncing between 4-5psi, then went up to 8 psi at about 6500rpm to 7000rpm.. I'm questioning whether I installed my manual boost controller CORRECTLY for the spike? Anyone know whats up with the secondary turbo control system?

And 4th gear.. at WOT, hits 10psi, no spike... but slowly drops psi as rpm get high, from 10psi, 9 psi, 8 psi and stays at around 7-8 psi... anyone?
