Almost decided to go with reflash (pettit ecu), performance experiences?

Will just be running ~12psi, cut airbox, downpipe, exhaust and possibly a midpipe (probably a intercooler afterward)

anyone running this setup and have trap speeds to show for it? dont' really want to buy a powerFC unless i decide to go single which i probably won't, hoping the relfash is a good performance and turnkey solution vs. a tuned powerFC for the same basic bolt ons

Search for RTS3GEN. He ran the Pettit ECU and all bolt-ons at 11.77 (14 PSI ported motor).

The last 5 FD rebuilds that we have seen were partially due to running USED reflashed ECUs. The blown engines were not caused by one particular ecu either, they have been a mixture of M2 and Petit.

It is quite possible that the customers were scammed into buying a stock ECU with a "petit" sticker or something that was believed to be an M2 stage "X".

Did you open up the ECU to verify this?

Yes, an aftermarket ECU is a great idea. Though, running 12PSI with the stock IC is not very efficient. The drop pressure is ~2.7PSI @ 12PSI on the stock IC. You would be pushing almost 15PSI in order to see 12PSI on the manifold.

Ive got a pettit unlimited. Its been great for me. I didnt have the cash to go upgraded twins yet, so this was the perfect ECU for me. I have no complaints, and you cant beat the price for that you get out of it.

I'm running the Pettit reflash with full exhaust, intake and soon Pettit high flow turbo's also running his cool charge II IC with decent open road milage (23) at 80 mph have seen 25 at below 80 mph speeds. My around town can be as bad as 9mpg depending on stop light to stop light play but usually around 15 if I stay outta the boost. Plenty of power and ony running 10 to 11 0n AVC-R controller. I'm very happy with the setup. Will have a 1/4 time when I get done with the turbo's

An ECU or standalone is only as good as it's tuning.

People say the Power FC is the best thing since sliced bread b/c it is very tunable and uses the stock wiring harness and is available a decent price point. From what I understand the base map is OK for its set of supported mods. If you go beyond the mods tuned for it's base out-of-the-box maps, you need to find a competent tuner to tailor it to your mods. This is often difficult and *depending on your mods* you might make as much power as if you had just bolted in a pre-tuned ECU from one of the big names and it would have cost much more.

Those Pettit, PFS, M2 ECUs have already been safely tuned for a specific set of mods.

That's my .02 cents.

I will be heading to the drag stip this Saturday ( assuming good weather). Pettit ECU at 14psi with stock twins, running sequential. Other mods in sig. I will update this thread with a time and trap speed.

I have a '95 FD and live in Connecticut. I'm thinking about replacing my stock ECU with either a Pettit or M2 with the following setup: 93 octane, stock seq twins, stock fuel system, downpipe, intake, hi-flow cat, rb duel tip cb, smic (I'm currently running only the dp on a 50k mile engine). Three questions: Any difference between reprogrammed '95 ECUs vs reprogrammed 93-94ECUs? Will a reprogrammed 93-94 cause EGR codes in my 95 or is this just a cal/non-cal issue? Is there a difference in Pettit/M2 California vs non-cali ECUs? Thanks.

I own both a Pettit limited unit as well as a Power FC. Running Full exhaust, intake, efini ypipe at usually 10psi...sometimes more. Until Steve Kan is in my neck of the woods, I'm leaving the Pettit on for saftey's sake. I know it's safe for 1 bar so for the time being I'll run rich. No big deal, BIG flames

With Power FCs going down in price though, Pettit ECUs are starting to seem less appealing. I paid 400 for my Pettit ECU almost 2 years ago, yet paid 650 for my Power FC with commander and commander holder (used). Then again it would cost me about 400 to get it tuned by Steve Kan, so these are all things to think about.

I seriously doubt that these ecu's were the problem if theyre actual M2 or Pettit ecu's Its easy figure out if it has a chip added on or not. Crack them open and look. And since this post is over a year old...i doubt ya got them around anyway.
