Air pump squealing

Well ive noticed a squeealing sound coming from the air pump.It did it on hot days and only when coming down from boost. While stepping on the gas the squeel went away. When letting off the gas and letting the car cruise the squeeling came back. When cold outside no sign of squeeling.Well I thought it might be the air pump so i disconnected the electrical connector that goes to it.The squeel is gone under hot weather or cold.Problem solved. At least i think so.
My question is this. Can I leave the pump disconnected?
Is there a danger of the pulley possibly locking up?I figured id just connect it when emission time came.I just dont wanna screw anything up.Thanx everyone.

Alot here will say it will cause your cat to plug up. I tend to agree that after a long while of low speed driving it may clogg. Check the for sale section, there are usually a few used air pumps there from people getting a PFC or other ECU"s. Good luck!

Your idle will be a bit loopy during warm-up if you have the stock ECU and no air pump. For whatever reason, my car just seems to run better in terms of around-town drivability with the air pump. I have no idea why.

Interesting.I think ive also noticed a slight change in drivability. But then again i have fluctuating idle problems and tempermental ignition coil harness wires.

The air pump injects a set amount of air into the intake manifold. When you unplugged it you created a rich fuel mixture. Hence the lumpy unsteady idle. Some can't stand it some don't mind it as they don't drive at idle. But if you do alot of in town driving it may get annoying.

actually the lumpy unsteady idle was present before i even unplugged the air pump.Ive recalibrated the tps and it still does it so either the tps is bad or the idle speed control solenoid is stuck or bad.Im sure the bad piece of the harness that goes to the ignition coils isnt helping either.

thats what im saying brotha.I just hate the hesitations sometimes.I really need to get a boost gauge.Maybe its not fuel or spark but a boost problem.
