Anyone thought of swapping RX-7 turbos for Supras?

The stock sequential supra turbos are 2 Hitachi CT12-B turbos

the stock RX-7's are HT-12's

does anyone have specs on both for comparison? seems like they would swap nicely

I seem to recall my Supra friends telling me that the rx 7 turbos are actually bigger, or that they flow more. I don't know that could be wrong

no, actually the supras are bigger, by a few mm's on the exhaust end, i just want to know if the cartridges will bolt up or if porting would be required

dynamicracing.com also makes DR650's for stealth/vr-4's with the HT12 and adds a ford exhaust turbine and ports the exhaust housing

so i'm thinking our exhaust turbins are too small in general

Too much trouble getting them to bolt up to the stock manifold. The supra twins are about 8 inches longer than the rx7 twins.

i agree, but you can remove the cartridges and transplant to the RX-7 turbine housings

I've swapped rx-7 turbo cartridges around. I made a secondary in good shape into a primary. It's really easy. If the Supra's cartridges dimensions work with the rx7's turbo manifold and housings then I don't see why it wouldn't be easy.

What i'd like to know is how toyota got two sequential turbos to opperate flawlessly without a ridiculous rats nest of solonoids and hose (or at least if it has them, it works more reliably).

Rx7 can run if a vacuum line pops off, Supra will be shut down till they can find and fix the problem. I ran into this when I blew a hose, since then I have upgraded to silicone. Still have the rat's nest though =(

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Supra sequentials are not rebuildible from what I've heard, but swapping their cartridges into an RX-7 would be pretty cool, it just so happens I know somebody with an extra set laying around...hmmm, horsepower...
