Is this what your talking about? Cause Mine is like that and I asked about it too. They told me it's ok, don't plug it up or filter it. It's just like a noise suppression hose and it didn't come with a filter on it cause it vents, doesn't suck in air. And also my hose was broken off as you can see, yours probably goes down and looks normal. If this isn't it then I'm not sure what to say until I see a pic.

yeah, now i see what you are talking about. that hose is coming off of the airpump. if you remember from your original stock airbox this hose went back into the box into a little chamber, then came out of the side of the box and back into the ground. this is the hose that gives off what most guys call the "mooing" sound. i have the greddy dual air intake, and there was a spot to put this hose back into the pipes, but it makes way to much noise. what i did is take some extra hose from the stock airbox and make it go down to the ground. this was still too loud for me so i got a lawnmower silencer and attached it to the end of the hose to quiet the sound.
you can leave the hose as it is and drive the car to hear the sound i'm trying to explain.

sure "rx7spiritr....hold on

Hey nick this is not the hose coming from the air pump. This hose goes from the air box to somewhere under the uim. The air pump hose is to the right of the hose im talking about. I have already dumped the air pump hose towards the bottom of the car.

there are two air pump hoses. one that draws fresh air in and one that comes off the lower uim and vents to the ground. if you still have the stock air box check it out. the hose in your pic to the right of the hose you circled comes off the airbox and is after the air filter, drawing fresh air in. the hose you circled (the one off the lower uim) vents the air to the ground.

no, it's just gonna be really loud and produce that "mooing" sound i was talking about. i got a lawnmower silencer from home depot and attached it to the end of the hose just to quiet it down.
if your talking about the air pump hose that draws the air in, then yes, that has to be filtered air.
