AHH please no!!!
my oil drained out of my car the other day while driving, and i was like 1/4 mile from home, so i turned around and came back. well it didnt overheat or anything, temps were fine...so i filled it back up with oil, started it up to see where the leak was. oil sprayed everywhere on the ground from the oil cooler or something, but i notice that most of the oil was black...but some was black and looked cloudy...im so scared that it is anti-freeze and oil mix...that means the motor is gone right?
i got the motor from malloy mazda...and its suppose to have a 1 year warranty...would this be covered? i really cant afford this right now if it was in fact a blown motor?? help me!!

Don't know about the engine, but I do know that most of the engine warranties are very tricky because a lot of blown motors are a result of something besides a actual defect in the motor such as loss of coolant or lean conditions destroying seals. You have to have documents to show you've done proper oil changes, proper coolant flushes, etc... Good luck though, hope everything is ok.

Let me get this straight... all your oil drained onto the ground, and you continued to drive the car!! The warranty shouldn't cover that. It sounds like one of your oil cooler lines either popped off or sprung a leak. If you have an internal coolant leak on the other hand... that should be covered.

I didnt know that it had leaked...my oil gauge always bounced around a little wierd...i didnt know i had leaked all of the oil untill i parked it and looked under the car and saw the oil sprayed everywhere.

so from this leak...if it actually is oil + antifreeze...does it mean the motor is toast? im going to have it towed up to a local rotary shop....but i wanna know what to expect. im scared

How can oil look *black* and *cloudy* at the same time? Anyway, I don't believe there's a failure mode where oil and coolant mix and then exit the engine.
Short story: You blew an OMP line, or an oil cooler line, as paw140 said. The smart thing would be to get that leak (if you can call a gusher like that a "leak") fixed before you fill up the crankcase again.

ahh, thanks OrangeFD....
lemme explain how the oil looked. there was one BIG puddle, probably equivilent to 1 or 2 quarts of oil on the ground. it was almost like it was divided in half though. one half was black! black like the oil that comes out of the motor when you change your oil. the other oil was black, but i guess you could say it looked like i poured oil and then sprinkled flower in with it, and mixed it around. i had the block crack on a piston motor before, and the oil and antifreeze mixed making a brownish sludge. it looks slightly similar to this.
btw, i hate AWS.....spewing oil at a rapid pace plus the motor revving 3000 rpm while cold is a very scary thing.

racerfoo: I would recommend fixing the leak and keeping an eye on your oil and coolant. It's kind of hard to tell from oil spewed all over the ground if there is coolant mixed in with it.
I have an idea! Drain out the rest of the oil out of your oil pan. If there is antifreeze in it, it will have sunk to the bottom and will drain out first. One of my cars had a blown head gasket and coolant was getting in the oil. Everytime I'd change the oil some coolant would come out first.

oh boy, im relieved. after reading that i think my heart started beating again. i planned on changing the oil anyways...so i guess nows a good time. just gotta find that leak. thanks guys i can sleep at night again
